Who is Ballmer Systems Inc.

The idea

In 2007 Dusko Ballmer invented the process to build handcrafted log homes with cnc machines. He showed it at the ILBA conference in Wisconsin. Forintec made a report, paid by the government of Quebec, with the conclusion that it is at least 49% faster then build by hand. MPP Vic Fidelli calls it “a game changer”.

Detour

So he started a cnc shop to produce sleeves (www.knightcnc.com) to earn money and to keep going on this project.

He then got the idea to load the parts with robots into the lathe and then it was clear: those robots can also cut the logs – So the demand for a larger shop and machines where no longer needed! So the start-up cost where significant lower.

He then bought an old robot and built his own controller and driver. Just when he was ready to cut with the old Fanuc robot, ABB robotics Canada became partners in the project. They provided a new Robot, tools, along with the manpower to run and maintain all the equiptment. This new partnership allows access to more advanced and practical robots.
